We’re grateful to gather with you for our Annual Convention — this year in the joyful shadow of a camp centennial. For one hundred summers, our diocesan camp has been holy ground: a place of first prayers whispered from bunk beds, lifelong friendships forged by the lake, songs carried across water, and young leaders discovering their voices around a fire.

Convention is always sacred and practical work — prayer and policy, discernment and decision. But this year, it is also a celebration. We meet not only as delegates and clergy, but as a people shaped by a century of shared formation. The same Spirit who met campers on the shoreline and counselors in chapel meets us here as we listen, vote, worship, and imagine what comes next.

This is our second year as one reunified Diocese. Last year, we were learning the terrain — finding our footing, clarifying roles, building trust, discovering how to move together. It was careful, necessary work.

Now we move with greater confidence.

Just as generations before us tended the campfires, repaired the docks, and passed along the songs, we inherit both a story and a responsibility. We are not here merely to preserve what has been handed to us, but to steward it forward — rooted in gratitude for the past, steady in the present, and hopeful about the future God is shaping among us.

Over these days, we will give thanks for one hundred years of formation and faithfulness — and we will commit ourselves to the next faithful steps together.
