What is this Grant?

Offered by the Commission on Creation Care
Up to $1,000 per congregation

Is your congregation ready to take the next step in caring for God’s creation? The Commission on Creation Care invites Episcopal parishes in Wisconsin to apply for grants of up to $1,000 to support local sustainability and creation care education efforts. Please complete the application and email it to creationcare@diowis.org by May 24th. We are asking you to attend 1 of the 3 on-line presentations to help you complete the application form. If you cannot attend one of these presentations, please contact us for other options.

This year’s priority:

Energy Audits and Action Plans
We encourage congregations to complete an energy audit or survey through Focus on Energy and take steps to implement the recommendations—an impactful first step in reducing your church’s carbon footprint.

Eligible Project Categories:

All projects should fit into one or more of these categories.

Building and Grounds

Working toward alternative energy sources, for example, energy audits; cleaning water and air, using non-toxic cleaning supplies; and creating habitats for pollinators and our non-human neighbors.

Worship

Developing or curating resources for homilies, liturgy, or Sunday School focused on Creation Care

Education

Leading Bible-based studies on Creation Care. Launching or supporting parish Creation Care committees

Advocacy

Building partnerships with local, regional, or national environmental organizations.

Accountability

Setting goals and measuring the results of our efforts, including our investments.

TIMELINE

2026 Creation Care Grant Timeline

  • Applications available now

  • Application deadline: May 24, 2026

  • You will receive confirmation when your application is submitted

  • Award decisions announced: June 1, 2026

  • Mentor assigned by: June 5, 2026

    • Your mentor will be your primary point of contact with the Commission and will support you throughout the grant process

  • Funds disbursed: After June 10, 2026

    • Funds will be sent to your parish treasurer once all application materials are complete

REQUIREMENTS

Reporting Requirements

  • Midpoint Grant Report due: September 1, 2026

    • Includes participation in a required Zoom information session (August 2026)

  • Final Grant Report due: Upon project completion or by December 1, 2026

    • Please include photos and/or video

    • Materials may be shared on the Commission’s website, social media, and across the Episcopal Church
