FAQs

  • Realm is a church management system to improve information sharing and communication. This online database is designed for congregations and church entities. Realm has a basic database field structure, but the diocese can create new fields to meet diocesan needs.

  • Most users interact with Realm Connect, an online portal and app designed for simple and easy access to Realm information. Users with responsibilities—like diocesan staff or ministry leaders—interact with Realm’s backend portal to manage information using a variety of tools.

  • Realm has several built-in features, but the Diocese currently focuses on three:

    1. Directory – Follow and stay connected with people across the Diocese.

    2. Groups – Connect with others who serve on diocesan committees or share ministry interests (like Altar Guild or music).

    3. Events – Register for diocesan events, check in, and access event details (like Diocesan Convention).

  • Each user can control what information is visible to others. A small number of administrative users have access to view all user information.

  • Only registered diocesan Realm users can view information—it is not available to the public. Users may see names, and in some cases, addresses, phone numbers, or emails, depending on permissions. Group members can view contact information for other members and leaders. Administrative users have access to all information.

  • A Group is made up of people connected by a shared topic, purpose, or ministry area. For example, the diocesan Mission Council forms one group, and a Senior Warden group includes all senior wardens from parishes. Within each group, members can post messages and share resources—like a sample building use agreement.

  • Some users are pre-assigned to a group by an administrator. For example, most parishes provided names of their Altar Guild leaders, who have been added to the “Altar Guild” group.

Users can also request to join groups by using the “Find a Group” tab in Realm. Group leaders review and approve these requests to ensure appropriate membership. Some groups, like the Mission Council, are hidden and won’t appear in the public list of groups.

  • These are just a few elements of Realm. If you have questions or need additional explanation, contact

Are you a user with responsibilities?

Some Realm users have additional permissions because of their leadership roles—these are called Users with Responsibilities. If you’re a clergy person, parish admin, or ministry leader, that may be you! You have access to extra tools in Realm to help manage groups, events, records, and more. Need help getting started?
