This spring, retired clergy and spouses from across the Diocese of Wisconsin are invited to three all-day gatherings designed for connection, learning, and celebration. Taking place on May 12, 13, and 14 at three locations across the Diocese, these days are a cornerstone moment for a growing ministry that centers on care, community, and gratitude.

Each gathering is cross-regional—participants are welcome to attend the date and location that works best for them:

  • May 12 — St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Neenah

  • May 13 — Beloved Community, Stevens Point

  • May 14 — St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Dousman

(If transportation or mileage support would be helpful, participants are encouraged to reach out to their regional chaplain.)

These gatherings are being offered in partnership with the Church Pension Group, whose representatives will be present throughout the week—including one traveling from New York City—to share current information, answer questions, and clarify benefits and resources. For many retired clergy and spouses, this alone makes the day invaluable.

But the gatherings are about much more than information. Each day will include worship, time for conversation and fellowship, and a complimentary gourmet lunch shared among colleagues who understand the unique shape of ministry lived over a lifetime. There will also be space for discussion with diocesan leadership, including a conversation with Matt Gunter, as schedules allow.

And yes—there will be joy. Each location will feature a professional performance, whether music or a bit of delightful surprise, reminding us that celebration and laughter are part of a faithful community, too.

For those who feel unsure about attending—perhaps wondering whether it’s worth a full day, or whether they truly “belong”—the invitation is simple and sincere: please come. These gatherings are designed with flexibility, warmth, and hospitality at their core. Participants consistently name the connections they make, the things they learn, and the joy they experience as deeply renewing.

This is a new season for the Diocese and for the Chaplaincy Ministry to Retired Clergy and Spouses. These May gatherings are a tangible expression of what that ministry hopes to embody: a Church that continues to show up for one another, that honors long faithfulness, and that creates space to learn, rest, and rejoice together.

Retired clergy and spouses will receive an official invitation from the Church Pension Group with additional details. When it arrives, consider saying yes—to a day of worship, wisdom, good food, and good company. You won’t regret it.
