Transition Ministry
This page provides a high-level overview of the diocesan Transition Manual and highlights the key steps of the transition process from departure through welcome. It is designed as a companion to the full manual, offering clarity, orientation.
That said, this webpage does not replace the full manual. Instead, it helps wardens, vestry members, search committees, and congregational leaders understand how to get started, where they are in the process and what resources are available.
Should you be considering starting your own transition or have any questions, the first step is to contact the Diocesan Transition Minister.
Should you be looking for openings, view our Open Positions page! More are being added as they come available so check back often.

At-a-Glance:
The Transition Process
The transition journey typically unfolds in four parts:
Part I – Departing Well
Clear communication, healthy leave-taking, and preparation for leadership during vacancy.
Part II – In the Interim
Stability, pastoral care, reflection, and congregational “homework” that prepares the way for search.
Part III – Search and Call Process
Discernment of search model, formation of the Search Committee, preparation of the parish profile, candidate discernment, episcopal approval, and issuing the call.
Part IV – Entry and Welcome
Preparing for arrival, early months of listening and learning, and the Celebration of New Ministry.
Each part builds on the one before it. Care taken early in the process supports a healthy beginning later.
