Free Admission • All Are Welcome
Celebrate five years of silent film magic at St. John the Divine with a special anniversary screening and live improvised organ accompaniment.
What began as a Holy Week experiment has grown into a beloved Burlington tradition. This milestone evening returns to the very film that started it all—along with a joyful comedy to welcome the spring season.
🎞 Featured Films
The Life and Passion of Jesus Christ (1907)
A landmark early religious epic from Pathé Frères, this stunning 45-minute silent film portrays the story of Jesus from the Annunciation through the Resurrection. Featuring hand-tinted color and imagery inspired by Gustave Doré’s famous Biblical illustrations, it remains one of the most beautiful works of early cinema.
Spring Fever (1919)
Harold Lloyd brings laughter in this lighthearted comedy short about a bookkeeper who abandons his desk to chase the joys of spring—with hilariously chaotic results.
🎹 Live Improvised Organ Score
Every Silent Film Night features a completely unique live soundtrack, improvised in real time by organist Kevin P. Monteith on St. John’s Allen AP-40 organ.
No two performances are ever the same—making this a truly one-of-a-kind artistic experience.
👋 Everyone Is Welcome
You don’t need to be a church member or a silent film expert. Simply come, bring a friend (and a snack if you’d like), and enjoy a beautiful and memorable evening together.
Admission is free.
