Energy in Oconomowoc: Zion’s Sunday School Revitalized

📍 Zion Episcopal Church, Oconomowoc

Earlier this summer, Senior Warden Ben Kossow of Zion Episcopal Church, Oconomowoc, sat down with Canon Scott Leannah to share a dream: restarting a vibrant Sunday School program. Just a few weeks later, that dream has already come to life.

On their second weekend, Zion’s revitalized Sunday School welcomed nearly two dozen youth through its doors. The classrooms were filled with laughter, curiosity, and the kind of energy that only children can bring. Parents lingered in the hallways, grateful to see their kids forming new friendships while learning the stories of faith.

“This has brought such momentum to our Christian formation program,” Kossow said. “We are thankful to the diocese for allowing us to repurpose a grant to meet our needs. That flexibility has been key to getting us started.”

While the grant provided an initial spark, the congregation is already looking ahead. “I’m hopeful that more funds might become available in the future,” Kossow added. “But even more, I’m hopeful that this program will grow to the point where it sustains itself.”

For now, the people of Zion are asking for prayers—prayers for the dedicated teachers and volunteers who make this possible, and for the youth who are discovering faith in new ways each week.

“We are grateful for the diocese’s support,” Kossow said. “And we’re excited for what’s ahead.”

Maji ya Bomba

📍 Newala, Tanzania

Newala, Tanzania — July 19, 2025. St. Mary’s Pre & Primary School opened its new Kindergarten Block with local leaders, Bishop Matt and Leslie Gunter (Wisconsin), and Fr. Oswald Bwecha. Sr. Debora, CMM—who helped lead construction—served as MC. “Our nursery has modern classrooms—thank you to the people of the Dioceses of Milwaukee and Wisconsin,” she shared. The campus now features running-water restrooms—maji ya bomba—a true milestone. The celebration ended with tree-planting and a joyful feast.

Regional Fellowship Gathering a Success!

📍Holy Cross, WI Dells

On Saturday, September 20, approximately 45 people from nine congregations across our region gathered in Wisconsin Dells for our first-ever regional fellowship day.

The afternoon included prayer, play, and plenty of food. The Region provided the main course and tickets to local attractions, while participants brought dishes to share and a spirit of community.

Holy Cross, Wisconsin Dells, offered warm hospitality as our host. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we hope this becomes a beloved annual tradition!
